Note
Boxing champions Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali faced off at Madison Square Garden in New York City on 8 March 1971 in 'The Fight of the Century.' Their fifteen-round match was broadcast around the globe, while celebrities such as Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand attended the sold-out event in person. Ali had been banned from boxing and stripped of his World Heavyweight Champion title in 1967 because he refused the draft during the Vietnam War. Going into this fight, Frazier ranked as the heavyweight champion. He served Ali with his first defeat in the ring and defended his title.
