Note
This tender scene captures Erwitt's first wife Lucienne Van Kan napping with their cat while pregnant with her soon-to-be-born daughter, Ellen. It was featured in the section on pregnancy in Edward Steichen's ground-breaking exhibition The Family of Man, presented in 1955 at The Museum of Modern Art, New York.
