Six Egyptian shabtis

Second Intermediate Period-Late Period, circa 1550-332 B.C.
Comprising a wood shabti, 17th Dynasty; a limestone shabti, New Kingdom; a terracotta shabti with traces of green slip; a shabti with some white slip, for a woman with part text reading, Khonsu; a shabti with mottled green glaze; and a shabti with 'T' shaped text for the Wener priest (at Letopolis) born to Ast-Reshti, 9cm-12.5cm high (6)

Footnotes

Provenance:
Bodo Bleß (1940-2022) collection, Berlin, formed from ca. 1960 onwards.

There is a similar wood shabti in the Manchester Museum; see G. Janes, The Shabti Collections 5, a Selection from the Manchester Museum, Lymm, 2012, p. 8, no. 3. It has been suggested that such shabtis were twigs from the off-casts of coffin making.
