A turquoise-ground Sèvres vase (vase Vénitien), dated 1883-84

Painted with a mottled turquoise-blue ground edged with bands of gilt, 32cm high, date marks "S 83" in green enamel and "RF DORE A SEVRES 1884" in red, other incised numerals to base, (with restored rim section, overpainting) (2)

Footnotes

This form is one of the many variations of "Medici" vase forms produced by Sèvres in the 1880s. Three white ground prototypes of this form are in the Mobilier National, invs. GML861-001 - 003.
