Footnotes

Provenance:
Kuizenga collection, the Netherlands, acquired in 2009.

There is another Geometric Greek fibula in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, with similar globular decoration, which due to its impractical weight for wearing is suggested to be a votive offering to the gods (acc. no. 2021.121).
