Provenance:
Constantine Alexander Ionides (1833-1900) collection, London; and thence by descent. Ionides was a British art patron, collector and connoisseur of Greek ancestry, most notable for his bequest of 82 paintings to the V & A Museum. Several of his ancient gems are now at the Getty Museum.
