For the type, see J.D. Kaplan, Predynastic Egyptian Pottery in the Collection of the Robert V. Fullerton Art Museum, San Bernardino, 2005, p. 26-37. Kaplan notes that these beakers were likely dinnerware, and 'show wear patterns on their narrow bottoms indicating that they would be pushed into the sand for stability during the meal' (ibid., p. 26).
