A Best Original Score Golden Globe Statuette for Flashdance
Paramount Pictures, 1983. Cast metal globe on marble base, brass plaque reading "Flashdance / Best Original Score / Motion Picture / by Giorgio Moroder / 1983..." and numbered at lower left #8445.
When actress Jennifer Beals (or her body double) strutted on screen and performed a dance to the song, "Flashdance ... What a Feeling" in front of a group of stern but increasingly exuberant judges, audiences went wild and the song, along with the film, became an instant sensation. The music was by Giorgio Moroder, with lyrics by Keith Forsey and Irene Cara, who was also the vocalist. Moroder was responsible for compiling the soundtrack of the film, with other notable songs including "Maniac" and "Gloria" scoring high on the music charts.
