A Collection of Studio Keybook Stills from the 1933 Production of Alice in Wonderland
Paramount Pictures, 1933. Comprising 16 gelatin silver keybook photos, 8 x 10 in., of actors, designs, and characters from Paramount's 1933 production of Alice in Wonderland. A star-studded cast which included Cary Grant, Gary Cooper, W.C. Fields, Edward Everett Horton, Baby LeRoy, and many others appeared in this often grotesquely frightening rendition of the beloved Alice in Wonderland story by Lewis Carroll. Famed production designer William Cameron Menzies (who would later create the sets for Gone with the Wind) designed the production and Joseph L. Mankiewicz wrote the screenplay. The photographs display amazing detail of the bizarre costumes featuring such performers as Alison Skipworth as Duchess (truly creepy but incredibly creative), Sterling Holloway as Frog, Lillian Harmer trying on her costume as Cook, Charles Ruggles with his March Hare costume head, and Charlotte Henry as Alice, as well as photos of production drawings of Dodo Bird and other characters.
