An Original Broadway Sign from the 1932 Ziegfield Theater Production of Hot-Cha!
1932. Vintage light-up sign letters constructed of metal frames with electronics and some vintage bulbs present, but untested. Used to advertise the variety stage show, Hot-Cha!, produced by Florenz Ziegfeld, Jr. The sign was in use at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York from March 08, 1932, through June 18, 1932. The show featured performers such as Lupe Velez, Buddy Rogers, and Bert Lahr, best known for his iconic portrayal of the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz (1939). Anecdotally, in the 2020 West End revival of 42nd Street at the Drury Lane Theater, London, the sign was one of those reproduced for the production to represent old Broadway. Exhibiting age and expected patina.
