A Katharine Hepburn Group of Signed Letters and a Signed Broadway Playbill

Comprising 3 Typed Letters Signed ("Katharine Hepburn"), 3 pp recto, 12mo, New York, February 20, 1976, to February 17, 1982, to Jeanie Columbo, on monogrammed stationery, two with original transmittal envelopes. Hepburn thanks the sender for her letters and comments on a funny story. Together with a Broadway "Playbill" from the Broadhurst Theatre for the play, A Matter of Gravity, signed ("Katharine Hepburn") to front cover. After some try-out performances in various U.S. cities, A Matter of Gravity opened on Broadway on February 3, 1976, and ran for 79 performances. Hepburn later toured nationally with the play, and even after injuring her ankle, the 68-year-old actress continued to perform ... in a wheelchair! The play had middling reviews and critic Clive Barnes wrote, "Audiences will come to see Miss Hepburn play rather than the play Miss Hepburn is in. And they will not be disappointed."
Playbill: 5.5 x 9 in.
