A Pair of Mamie Van Doren Photographs by George Hurrell
2 10 x 13 in. gelatin silver print portraits, one seated and one reclining, each with photographer's stamp ("Hurrell") on verso, minor cockling to both, matted and framed.
Mamie Van Doren is one of the last survivors of Hollywood's Golden Age to have her portraits taken by the great portrait photographer, George Hurrell. These images convey Van Doren's sex symbol image but in an elegant way, a departure from the photographs taken by the movie studios to promote her "B" films, where her sexuality was more flagrantly displayed. Van Doren's colorful personal life involved tycoon Howard Hughes, boxer Jack Dempsey, Elvis Presley, Clint Eastwood, and trumpeter husband, Ray Anthony.
19 x 22 1/2 in. each
