A Walt Disney Celluloid from the "How to Ride a Horse" Segment of The Reluctant Dragon
RKO, 1941. Gouache on celluloid applied to an airbrushed Courvoisier background, with descriptive plate matted below the cel inscribed, "Remember! Man Is Always the Master, No. 2 / 'How to Ride a Horse' sequence from Walt Disney's 'Reluctant Dragon'," with vintage Courvoisier Galleries plate on the verso, matted and framed. The cel depicts Goofy being stepped on by his horse and obviously failing in his attempts to be the master. The Reluctant Dragon was a short film which was both live action and animated, both in black and white and in color, which toured the Walt Disney Studios and featured Disney himself and several animators, as well as various brief animated features.
