A Pair of Bette Davis Film Posters
Comprising a US one-sheet framed poster for Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? (Warner Bros., 1962) and a US half sheet framed poster for Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte (20th Century Fox, 1964). Visible through archival frames and ready to display. Unexamined out of frame. Exhibiting expected age and handling.
When Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, adversaries in the leading lady department, were teamed to appear in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962), the success of the film was a pleasant surprise. Both actresses' heydays were in the past, and they were often starred in low-budget camp films (particularly Crawford). With the success of Baby Jane, it was only natural that Hollywood would want to capitalize on the partnership. The two were scheduled to appear together again in Hush ... Hush, Sweet Charlotte (1964), but Crawford bowed out due to an alleged illness. She was ultimately replaced by Olivia de Havilland.
Provenance: The Collection of Kevin Burns and Prometheus Entertainment.
Largest 30 x 44 in.
