Mamdouh Kashlan (1929 – 29 August 2022) was a renowned Syrian painter. He studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma in Italy from 1952 to 1959, where he earned a diploma with a focus on painting. Over the course of his career, Kashlan held more than 300 exhibitions both in Syria and internationally. His works are featured in prominent institutions such as the National Museums of Damascus, Aleppo, and Deir Atieh, as well as the Presidential Palace in Syria. His art has also been displayed in the Sursock Museum in Beirut, Lebanon, the Modern Art Museum in Cairo, Egypt, and has been exhibited in cities like Sofia, Paris, and Seinajoki. In 1996, he received the prestigious Pioneers Prize from the Syrian Ministry of Culture. Born in Damascus in 1929, Kashlan passed away in his hometown on 29 August 2022.
