Named one of the founders of A. Lange & Söhne, the Richard Lange collection embodies the adventurous and innovative spirit of the esteemed watchmaker and scientist. The Tourbillon pour le Mérite is a prime example, featuring a meticulously designed dial divided into three sections for minutes, hours, and seconds. This regulator design is inspired by a pocket chronometer by Saxon watchmaker Johann Heinrich Seyffert. The seconds sub-dial is cleverly integrated with the hand-finished tourbillon, both working in perfect harmony. With a hacking seconds feature, pulling the crown stops the movement, allowing for precise time setting. A unique feature of this watch is its hour display. At 6 o'clock, an additional sector appears from 8 to 10 o'clock to aid in reading the hour, and it retracts at 12 o'clock to avoid obstructing the tourbillon. It is a brilliant piece of watchmaking that allows for the aesthetics of the dial to shine through. Such intricate details are a hallmark of A. Lange & Söhne's craftsmanship, and the current lot, in excellent condition, is a stunning example for Lange collectors to consider.
