Cartier reference W6920021 is part of the Ballon Bleu collection and features one of their most important complications. The slate guilloche with blued steel sword-shaped hands and black Roman numeral hour markers contrasts beautifully against the backdrop of the 46mm white gold case, while the crystal sits atop and blends seamlessly with the case sides as smooth as a pebble. Yet the star of the show this watch is celebrated for is its inclusion of the intricate flying tourbillon, which is a hallmark of high horology. Unlike a traditional tourbillon, which is supported by bridges on both sides, a flying tourbillon is only supported from one side. This creates the impression that the tourbillon is "flying" or floating within the watch, adding to the allure and showcasing Cartier's craftsmanship. The current lot is in great condition and given its original retail price of almost HK$1 million, represents a tremendous value, and would be an amazing addition for lovers of Cartier or great complications alike.
