The present works would have originally formed part of a set of the twelve months of the year. They are derived from the large set by the School of Marten de Vos, 130 x 276cm, formerly in the Spanish Royal Collection and now in the Museo del Prado, Madrid (inv.nos. 358-361, 363-5, 367-370, 377, 383).
