ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPT

[GRADUAL] Proprium de tempore, on vellum, in Latin, 215 leaves (only), 10 lines of alternate text and music on four-line red staves, red and blue floriated initials, unfinished larger capitals, contemporary manuscript foliation in lower margin of opening leaves (I-CLX, lacking one), catchwords mostly cropped, a few holes not affecting text (some repaired), eighteenth century deerskin over wooden boards, raised spine bands, occasional single wormholes, some wear and abrasions, clasps missing, folio (460 x 330mm.), [Northern Italy, fourteenth century]

Footnotes

The Proprium de Tempore is the section of a Gradual which includes all the chants related to the moveable feasts of the year, from Advent to Easter.
