A Meissen figure of the frightened Harlequin, mid 18th century


Modelled by J.J. Kaendler, wearing a gilt-edge purple hat with red rosette, a pale-yellow tunic reserved with playing cards and with turquoise rosettes, a slapstick to his right in the black belt, puce and white trousers and red-rimmed white shoes with yellow bows, the base applied with leaves and flowers, 16.5cm high (slapstick restored)
