Modelled by P. Reinicke, wearing a white hat and gilt-lined white costume with yellow shoes and blue bows, the base applied with leaves and flowers, 14.4cm high, crossed swords mark in blue (head restuck, nose, hat and edge of base restored)

After an engraving by François Joullain, "Habit de Tartaglia," published in Luigi Riccoboni's Histoire du Théâtre Italien, 1728. The figure is recorded in Reinicke's work notes of September 1744: "1 dergl., Tartaglio, in Thon boushirt" [1 ditto, Tartaglio, repaired in clay]. See Meredith Chilton, Harlequin Unmasked, 2001, p. 312, cat. 112, for the similar figure in the Gardiner Museum.
