Modelled by P. Reinicke, wearing a white ruff collar, gilt-edged white cloak, puce tunic with gilt frogging and a satchel around the waist, yellow breeches and black shoes, 13.3cm high, traces of crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue to rear of base, incised G., 4. in black (right hand restored)

After the engraving "Habit de Beltrame de Milan" by François Joullain (1697-1778) published in Luigi Riccoboni's Histoire du Théâtre Italien (1728) and mentioned in Reinicke's work notes for August 1744: "1 Figur, Beltrama di Milan, 7 1/2 Zoll hoch, in Thon boshirt" [1 figure, Beltrama di Milan, 7 1/2 Zoll high, repaired in clay]; see Meredith Chilton, Harlequin Unmasked, 2001, p. 121.
