A Greta Garbo Group of Photographs with Leading Men

Comprising 4 gelatin silver MGM photographs, all approximately 8 x 10 in., 3 with original stamped captions and/or numbers on the verso, all encased in plastic (but able to be removed) with Culver Pictures Archives grading, featuring Garbo with various leading men including one with John Gilbert in Flesh and the Devil (1926), two with John Barrymore in Grand Hotel (1932), and one with Melvyn Douglas in Ninotchka (1939). Garbo became the enigmatic Queen of MGM when studio chief Louis B. Mayer brought her over from her native Sweden to star in some of the studio's greatest films of the 1920s and '30s. By 1942, she had retired, never to return to films. She lived very privately in a New York apartment for the rest of her life, but public interest in her never waned; she was pursued by paparazzi until her death in 1990.
8 x 10 in.
