A fine engraved airtwist goblet of possible Jacobite significance, circa 1750

The generous round funnel bowl finely decorated with a carnation spray, the leafy stems with two flowers in full-bloom and five closed buds, the reverse with a moth in flight, on a multi-spiral airtwist stem with shoulder and central knops, over a conical foot, 20.5cm high

A similar goblet engraved with a slightly different carination spray, also from the Leuba Collection, was sold by Bonhams on 13 December 2023, lot 131. A goblet of different form engraved in a very similar manner with a carnation spray, perhaps by the same hand, was sold by Sotheby's on 20 May 1968, lot 86.
