A most unusual light baluster goblet, circa 1750-60

The generous double-ogee funnel bowl on a multi-knopped stem with a beaded shoulder knop set between cushion knops, above a teared angular knop and teared true baluster terminating in a basal cushion knop, over a folded domed foot, 23.9cm high

Footnotes

No other baluster goblet with this unusual shape of bowl would appear to be recorded. Whilst sweetmeat or champagne glasses with ogee or double-ogee bowls are commonly encountered, some of which also have baluster stems incorporating beaded knops, it is exceptional to find a glass with these features, let alone one of such large size.

Buyers' Premium and Charges

Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
