A very rare Flight, Barr and Barr Worcester breakfast cup and saucer from the Prince Regent Service, circa 1815

Of generous size, finely painted and gilded with the Prince of Wales feathers surmounted by a crown and inscribed 'hony soyt quy mal y pense' [sic], the rich blue borders with anthemion bands in raised gold, the cup with a scrolled gilt handle, saucer 17.8cm diam, impressed crowned FBB marks, the cup with script mark and the saucer with printed mark both referring to Coventry St address (2)

This large cup and saucer is from a breakfast service made for the Prince Regent, the future King George IV, in 1815. The saucer is illustrated by Charles Dawson, Worcester Flight & Barr Porcelain (2023), p.172, fig.17.6 (left). A set of seven identical breakfast cups and saucers are in the Royal Collection (inv. nos.RCIN 35545-6) together with various other shapes from the service. A jug from the service was sold by Bonhams on 21 June 2023, lot 469.
