A Bohemian engraved and gilded baluster wine glass, early 18th century

The glass perhaps Thuringian or Franconian, the fared bowl decorated with a highly stylised continuous landscape with a bird in flight amongst stylised plants, within 'Bohemian' husk borders, the engraving gilt, resting on two collars above a solid ball knop and further collar, the spreading foot folded at the footrim edge, 13.7cm high

Footnotes

Provenance
Private Collection, Belgium

A wine glass of similar form is illustrated by Rainer Rückert, Die Glassammlung des Bayerischen Nationalmuseums München, Vol.2 (1982), p.198, pl.160, no.562, where it is attributed to Thuringia or Franconia. The husk borders would suggest a Bohemian origin for the engraving.
