Footnotes

This popular motif on glasses by Kothgasser can also be found on bowls made by the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory. A Ranftbecher painted with an identical subject is illustrated by Glasgalerie Michael Kovacek, Glas: 1500 - Heute (2000), no.17. A cylindrical beaker painted with the same subject in green camaieu is illustrated by Paul von Lichtenberg, Mohn & Kothgasser (2009), p.391, pl.294, where the author states that Kothgasser frequently used this motif from his repertoire for stock.
