A Venetian Screziato vase by Salviati & Co, circa 1880

Shape number 599, of globular form with a long tapering neck, splashed and streaked with a profusion of colours including pink, blue, green, yellow and gold aventurine on an opalescent white ground and cased in clear glass, the neck trailed with a vermicular collar in translucent turquoise glass, on a short stem in clear glass, over a folded domed foot also in polychrome, 24.2cm high

A very similar vase is illustrated by Sheldon Barr, Venetian Glass Mosaics 1860-1917 (2007), p.99 and another from the Dimitri Levas Collection was sold at Wright Auctions in Chicago on 20 May 2014, lot 191. An amphora vase in a very similar Screziato colourway from the Paul Gresswell-Wilkins Collection was sold by Bonhams New York on 7 October 2021, lot 92.
