Lowbury Hill in Berkshire is the highest point on the Berkshire Downs, giving 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside. It has been considered a place of special significance for centuries and archaeological remains found there date back to Roman times. It will have appealed to William Turner who often chose a high vantage point for his panoramic landscapes.
