A similar work, also signed and dated 1628, was offered at Christie's, Amsterdam, 14 November 2007, lot 158. Van Goyen began his career in Esias van de Velde's studio in 1616 and his influence can clearly be seen in the present work, most particularly the figures packed together in the cart.
