At the time of the sale of paintings from the Collection of Don Gioachino Colonna, Prince of Stigliano in 1964, the present lot was given to Gianantonio Guardi, based on an expertise from Prof. Giuseppe Fiocco. However, Egidio Martini subsequently suggested an attribution to Pietro Longhi.
