8vo (193 x 117 mm). 22 pp. Original pink printed wrappers. Pen notation to front wrapper, few mild foxmarks, light creases, wrappers detached and with tiny chips.

VERY RARE LEAFLET of directions for the collection and preservation of natural history specimens. This was designed to encourage seafaring men to gather specimens for a prospective lyceum in Philadelphia: "N.B. For every animal sent home should be accompanied by a note stating the country where it was found, its food, the season when it was taken, the peculiarity of its habits, its native name ... Specimens may be deposited at the Seaman's Friends' Society, corner of Front and Union streets" (p 22). Sabin 62234.
