APPLE DESKTOP PUBLISHING POSTER.

With Apple Desktop Publishing anyone can draw on our experience. Printed poster in colors, laid down on board, [Cupertino, CA: Apple Computers, c. 1985-1986], 700 x 470 mm, depicting a slanted drawing desk with lamp, art supplies, brushes, and an overflowing waste bin. Light wear, some creases to edges.

This image was used to promote the desktop publishing capabilities of Apple's product line. Apple's LaserWriter printer — one of the first mass-market laser printers — was a pivotal component in the explosion of desktop publishing when combined with the mouse-driven user interface of the Macintosh, and the "WYSIWYG" graphic design software Aldus Pagemaker. Although the concept of desktop publishing had been hatched at Xerox PARC in the 1970s, it was not until 1985 that the equipment and software needed to open up desktop publishing to a mass audience became widely available.
