MARIE CURIE ON SCIENCE.

CURIE, MARIE. 1867-1934. Autograph Statement Signed ("M. Curie"), in French, on increasing public interest in scientific research, 1 p, 70 x 105 mm, ink on card, n.p., n.d.

In translation: "Those who love science are always delighted to see that public opinion is increasingly interested in the achievements of scientific research, and from this point of view I thank you for your initiative. M. Curie"

Marie Curie believed science and scientific research to be "the basis of all progress that alleviates human life and reduces suffering." She won two Nobel Prizes for her work, the first person ever to do so, and founded both the Foundation Curie (now the Institut Curie) in Paris in 1920, as well as the Radium Institute in Warsaw in 1932, in collaboration with the Polish Government. Both institutes were public institutions seeking to expand therapeutic access to cancer treatment.
