EDISON CIRCUIT DRAWING OF A TELEGRAPH.

EDISON, THOMAS ALVA. 1847-1931. Pen-and-ink circuit design drawing for a telegraph, 204 x 132 mm, ink on paper, Newark, NJ, c.1878-9, folds, creases, stain at upper margin.
WITH: Autograph Letter Signed ("Thos A. Edison") to "Friend Wentworth" advising on powering a telegraph, 1 p, 250 x 190 mm, on Edison's 10 & 12 WARD ST letterhead, Newark, NJ, January 20, 1879, old folds, clean split at centerfold.
WITH: a 2nd pen-and-ink circuit design drawing (defective), less detailed than the 1st.

ORIGINAL EDISON DESIGN DRAWING FOR A TELEGRAPH CIRCUIT, sent to Charles Sumners Wentworth, with an autograph letter signed on telegraph design. In part, "Without I know what the resistance of your sounder is it would be hard to say how many cells would be required. I should think about 8 would do the business if they are 3 ohm sounders...." Edison closes on a personal note, "I am married and have as the French say 'trois joli petite' infants."
