A George II giltwood and gilt gesso girandole

Circa 1735
The bevelled plate with re-entrant upper angles within a bead-and-reel slip, within a rusticated border and foliate moulded surround, the swan neck pediment with an egg and dart moulded cornice and flowerhead terminals, surmounted by a shaped, scrolled and acanthus headed cartouche cresting, the shaped pounced apron with later brass scrolled candle arm attachments and a central scallop shell, 124cm high x 65cm wide.
