Footnotes

Provenance:
The Twinight Collection

The service for the Duke of Wellington represents one of the greatest technical and artistic achievements of the Berlin manufactory in the first half of the 19th century. See W. & I. Baer, Das Tafelservice der KPM für den Herzog von Wellington (1988), for a comprehensive discussion of the service, most of which is still displayed at Apsley House in London. The dinner service originally comprised 100 such plates.
