A Sèvres blue-ground vase (vase Médicis), circa 1828

Of the fourth size, decorated in gilding embellished with platinum, with a trellis (mosaique) pattern enclosing flowerheads below a foliate scrollwork border below the rim, the base with foliate and formal stiff-leaf borders, the flared foot similarly decorated on a marbled square plinth, 30.5cm high, interlaced LL monogram enclosing fleur-de-lys above Sèvres and indistinct date 28 (?), inscribed in green '5 J. 27.' and 'A....28' in gilding (for the gilder A. Richard) (minor chips to base)

A similar pair of vases of the fourth size of 1834 is in the Musée National du Château de Compiègne (published by B. Ducrot, Porcelaines et Terres de Sèvres (1993), no. 84). Another from the same year of the fifth size is in the Palais de Fontainebleau (B. Chevallier, Les Sèvres de Fontainebleau (1996), no. 61.
