A Sèvres hard-paste blue-ground footed bowl compotier from a service made for Napoleon's mother, Laetitia Bonaparte (Madame Mère), circa 1802

Reserved with a gilt-edged band painted with trailing flowers, gilt foliate borders on the blue ground, reserved with a berried foliate border above the footrim, 22cm diam.; 8.9cm high, 'RF de/ Sevres' in blue (some scattered flaking)

This compotier was one of eight made for a relatively small service bought 23 March 1802 by Laetitia Bonaparte, the mother of Napoléon Bonaparte. See Camille Leprince, Napoléon Ier & la Manufacture de Sèvres (2016), no. 17, p.248 for a full list of the service.
