A Sèvres biscuit group of Le Dejeuner, circa 1775

Modelled by Josse-François-Joseph Leriche after Louis-Simon Boizot, in the round witn children and their mother around a breakfast table, 22cm high incised '17' (some restoration)

Footnotes

This group is often associated with two other groups of La Nourrice (The Nursing Mother) and La Toilette. These three groups, portraying scenes from the life of an upper-class French family, reflect the Age of Enlightenment, and a shift in subject away from purely pastoral and mythological subjects to family life.

Tamara Préaud noted that the factory sold 168 examples of Le Déjeuner and La Nourrice, often together, but only 23 of La Toilette. Another example of this group is in the collection of Château de Versailles, located in the petit appartement de la reine (2e étage), dining room.
