Footnotes

This figure is from the first series of the 'Cris de Paris', based on the first page of the third edition of 'Études prises dans le bas Peuple ou les Cris de Paris', engraved by Caylus after Bouchardon and published in 1738. The figure is recorded in Renicke's work records for October 1744: '1 Tyroler, einen Tabulet-Kasten tragend mit Bildern in der Hand, 9 Zoll hoch, in Thon bossiret'. See Gunther Reinheckel, 'Die erste Folge der Pariser Ausrufer in Meißner Porzellan', in Keramos 50 (1970), pp. 115ff, and V. Sigalas/M.
