A Meissen chocolate beaker and saucer, circa 1730

Finely painted with a harbour and hunting scene within a gilt quatrelobe cartouche edged with purple and iron-red scrollwork, panels and swags, the handle gilt, gilt scrollwork borders to rims, the beaker: 7.5cm high; the saucer: 13cm diam., crossed swords marks within concentric circles in underglaze-blue, gilt numeral 1. to both, impressed Dreher's mark of two dots for Johann Martin Kittel (small haircrack to glaze surface on underside of saucer) (2)
