A Royal Copenhagen silver-mounted tankard, circa 1779

Painted with crossed keys (inscribed M and K, respectively) tied with a ribbon to a hammer, within a floral wreath tied at the top with a purple ribbon, each side with a wreath of forget=me-nots enclosing gilt initials 'MGK' and 'NOK', respectively, gilt borders to rims, the gilt=edged handle painted with a rose, the silver cover with spiral gadroons and a wreath enclosing a silver-gilt medallion commemorating the engagement of Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia and Luise Henrietta of Nassau-Orange in 1646, inscribed around the rim 'N.O.K. Ao 1779 (?) M.G.K.', struck with maker's marks for Axel J. Krøyer, Copenhagen, 1723, 19.5cm high overall, wave mark over P in underglaze-blue to inside of top of handle, impressed K
