A GOLD AND SHAKUDŌ SAYA (SHEATH-TYPE) INRŌ (MEDICINE CASE)

Edo period (1615-1868) or Meiji era (1868-1912), mid/late 19th century
The inner section partially gilded stippled silver, comprising two cases and a cover, the outer saya of shakudō and gold, of lenticular plan with applied himotōshi (cord runners), boldly chiseled on each side as a dragon in clouds and pierced to reveal the inner section; with a silk cord and a coral ojime (bead) and netsuke each in the form of a natural coral branch, unsigned; with an unassociated wood storage box
