STEINBECK DUST JACKETS.

1. STEINBECK, JOHN. Tortilla Flat. New York: Covici Friede, 1935. Dust jacket only from first trade edition Light shelfwear, thumbsoiling to covers, jacket moderately soiled.
2. ---. In Dubious Battle. New York: Covici Friede, 1936. Dust jacket only from first trade edition. Light shelfwear to upper edges and fore-edges, lower panel lightly thumbsoiled.
3. ---. Tortilla Flat. New York: Grosset & Dunlap, c.1937. Dust jacket only. Minor thumbsoiling and wear. Film edition, with image of Spencer Tracy, Hedy Lamarr and John Garfield to cover.

Not clear if these were part of Steinbeck's "incunabula" sent to David Heyler over the years, or if Heyler collected them himself, but items 1 and 2 are very good examples from the first edition. Goldstone & Payne A4a, A4h, A5a (jackets only).
