These ormolu-mounted celadon ewers are likely to have been acquired by George Bridgeman, 2nd Earl of Bradford (1789-1865) when he inherited Weston Park in 1825. The rococo mounts with striking Chinese dragons are inspired by designs published by Jean le Pautre (d.1682) and Nicolas Pineau (d.1754) which have been combined with the early 19th century 'French' manner en vogue at the time. Related dragon vases in Carlton House supplied by the Vulliamys were much favoured during the first decade of the 19th century following the taste for chinoiserie.
