"I wish that my works are like Bodhi Trees, which are beautiful, tranquil and thought provoking." Featuring chiefly imageries of young women as his subject matter, Li Guijun's paintings speak to a state of being that is pure, sympathetic, and elevated from the quotidian existence. Created in 2002, the artist meticulously constructed the beguiling atmosphere of the interior and the ethereal presence of the figure in Under the Bodhi Tree. In contrast with the serene atmosphere, the bright red dress, the Jade-green Bodhi tree, and the silk-like skin of the figure left a robust visual perception to the viewers. Li Guijun's judicious use of colour and light creates a transcending visual effect of quietude — a vision of utopia championed by the generation of artists from the 85 New Wave movement.

李貴君曾表示「我渴望自己的創作能像菩提樹一樣美麗、寧靜，也能啟迪心靈。」少女形象是李貴君創作的主要題材，他筆下的少女如含苞待放的花蕾，生活在自己純淨可愛的世界裡，與外界的紛擾隔絕。作於2002年的《菩提樹下》，室內擺設、人物空靈的神情與姿態都是藝術家精心設計的場景，鮮紅襯裙、菩提樹與膚若凝脂的少女形成強烈的對比。兼具亮麗的視覺效果與靜謐的氛圍，李貴君透過色彩和光線，創造屬於85新潮世代的烏托邦。
