A BRONZE 'SHOU' TRIPOD INCENSE BURNER
Xuande six-character mark, Ming/Qing Dynasty
Of compressed globular form, the vessel rising from three lingzhi-shaped conical feet to a waisted neck, applied with a pair of handles in the form of a ferocious chilong with a bifurcated tail, the body decorated in subtle relief on each side with a stylised shou character flanked by a pair of archaistic chilong, the underside with an apocryphal Xuande mark.
22.3cm (8 3/4in) wide
