A SUPERB AND RARE MOTHER-OF-PEARL INLAID BLACK LACQUER INGOT-SHAPED 'QILIN' BOX AND COVER

16th/17th century
The gently rounded cover exquisitely adorned in mother-of-pearl with a stylised front facing qilin at the centre, the vertical sides of the box and cover delicately decorated with leafy florets, Japanese wood box.
